From the scale of a single organism to that of an entire city, Fanfa.lab investigates the essential role of urban green spaces and their potential as a pop-up laboratory for testing new collaborative approaches to the urban future.
During 2026, Fanfaluca Collective will carry out its work in the Benet Corner urban garden, exploring how architecture can go beyond a solely human-centred approach. Through participatory processes and a programme of activities, FANFA.lab reimagines the city as an inclusive habitat for multiple species in the face of the challenges of urban warming.
To this end, we will bring together agents from different disciplines and sectors — public and private, academics, professionals and representatives of civil society — in order to catalyse new alliances and promote the co-creation of knowledge through an interdisciplinary and ecological view of the urban environment.
The project integrates low environmental impact materials, circular economy principles and regenerative design to create a functional and visionary space, supporting Barcelona’s sustainability strategy by raising public awareness of innovative solutions and engaging local actors to build connections that accelerate the ecological transition.

About Fanfaluca
Fanfaluca is an architecture collective with a deep curiosity about the role of architecture in society. Founded in Stockholm in 2023 by Jenny Hedén Malm and Rose Hallgren, the studio typically works through installations and full-scale experimentation as a method for exploring topics in depth, bringing theory and practice into dialogue.
Their work encompasses research, design, curation and workshops, moving fluidly between speculative and experimental forms of design and artistic expression. Across all these formats, Fanfaluca’s practice is guided by a shared interest in storytelling, sensory experience and participatory approaches that invite audiences and communities to become part of the design process.
With a second base in Barcelona as residents of AKASHA Hub, the collective has expanded its presence in Spain alongside Guilherme Maglio and Gastón Quispe, incorporating new interdisciplinary perspectives that enrich their work at the intersection of architecture, ecology, technology and collective creation.
