What will neighbourhood retail look like in the coming years? What challenges do local shops face today, and what do they need to remain part of everyday life in El Clot?
At the first shopkeepers’ meeting promoted by Eix Clot, local merchants shared their concerns, needs and difficulties in an open conversation that also included the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting was a first step towards seeing local commerce not just as a collection of individual businesses, but as a network woven into the social fabric of the neighbourhood. Through dialogue and mapping of the area, participants identified shared challenges, connections and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between shops.
A first listening exercise to understand where we stand today and to start asking ourselves, collectively, what kind of local commerce we want for the Clot of the future.
